Executor
The person named in a will to carry it out. They apply for probate, gather in the assets, pay debts and any inheritance tax, and distribute what is left to the beneficiaries. It is a legal responsibility rather than an honour, and executors can be held personally liable for mistakes. You are allowed to decline the role.
