Financial advice for women at a turning point

Most people do not go looking for a financial adviser out of curiosity. They go because something has changed — a marriage has ended, someone has died, or they have started working for themselves and realised nobody is paying into a pension for them any more.

Those moments have something in common: the decisions are large, they are usually irreversible, and they arrive at the worst possible time for clear thinking. An adviser is not there to take the decision away from you. They are there to tell you what each option actually costs, so the choice you make is one you understand.

Every adviser in our directory is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and every enquiry is free and carries no obligation. If you would rather talk to a woman, that is a normal thing to ask for — we list the female advisers in our network separately.

What advisers help with

Common questions

How do I find a financial adviser near me?

Search your postcode on this page, or pick your town from the list below. We show the FCA-regulated advisers who cover your postcode area, along with their profile and how to make a free enquiry. If we do not yet cover your area, tell Helena where you are and she will explain the nearest options.

What does a financial adviser cost?

Advisers set their own fees. Some charge an hourly rate, some a fixed fee for a piece of work, and some a percentage of the assets they manage. Making an enquiry through Helena is free and carries no obligation, and any adviser should set out their charges clearly before you agree to anything.

Do I need a financial adviser for a divorce?

Not always, but pensions are the usual reason people wish they had. A solicitor handles the legal process; valuing a pension properly, and working out whether a proposed split leaves you able to live, is a financial question. Where pensions are substantial or final salary, a specialist report is often worth the cost.

Can I ask for a female financial adviser?

Yes, and it is a common request. We list the female advisers in our network on a separate page, and if you tell Helena you would prefer to speak to a woman she will look for one near you first.

Are the advisers on Helena regulated?

Every adviser listed is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. You can check any firm or individual on the FCA Register before making contact.
